Typographic poster sympathetic to a given quote.
‘’Dancing is a silent poetry’’ by Simonides ,ancient Greek poet.
Both dancing and poetry are about rhythm, expression,
structure, composition, choreography, picture, image, the emotional and
intuitive. Therefore the quote is represented in a form of an image that has a
certain composition. Letters ‘d’ and ‘p’ are connected since Simonides equals
both media of expression. Poetry to be fully felt and comprehended as a medium
of expression should be read out loud. ‘Silent’ is represented in smaller size
of the font since silence is considered less expressive than producing sound or
movement, even static as opposed to dynamic dancing or reading poetry. Both dancing and poetry are
characterised by uniqueness of performance and reception. This has been
reflected in italic style. The chosen font is Caslon, which represents the
delicate and the sublime and has reference to the aesthetics of dancing and
poetry.
